I’m not so much a January, resolutions, goals kind of gal, but I do go through spurts of working out a lot and I’m on one right now with my sisters and making really healthy choices. So, for this edition of Work It: 12 Months, 1 Pattern, No Repeats! I had to make some workout gear! A new piece is usually a great motivator to keep the good habits rolling. Plus, I loved working with Sly Fox swim so much last month, I was thrilled to use it again!!!
I am going to gush again on this swim fabric. It is seriously the best!! The white is so vibrant and the black so deep. The amazing contrast was just perfect for this entire outfit. Plus, the white doesn’t show anything through it AT ALL! I didn’t add any cups or power mesh to this top, so, I wouldn’t work out for reals in it as is. But the two layers over the bust are great for light walks or for being really comfy around the house.
I had to hack a tennis skirt out of these joggers. I love tennis skirts. After playing in them for so long, they are just so comfortable for me! And making my own is always a win because the shorts can be the right length so they don’t ride up and the skirt can be just the right amount of fitted to be comfortable but not a tent. I used the solid black for the skirt and it is going to match all of my workout tops. All of them. Seriously. I definitely need to pick up that Miami Beach Swim Knit to make another top though. Obviously.
I used the x-factor tank for this top because I’m in love with it!! It only runs to the 3x in their sizing, but I sized up for the hips and made a few other tweaks to make this top just what I wanted. I’m also 80% sure the two layers are supportive enough to swim in. I might actually try it. Which clearly means I need black swim bottoms! Looks like I need to go shopping!
I’m loving these more adventurous hacks and I hope you are too! For more info on these hacks, head on over to Sarcastic Sewist and check out Edition 7 of Work It!. Don’t forget to let me know what you think!

I hope you’ll join me over at sarcasticsewist.com to follow my 2019 blog series, Work It: 12 Months, 1 Pattern, No Repeats!, where I sew up 5 Out Of 4 Patterns Diane Joggers once every month in a new way, with a different fabric from Sly Fox Fabrics! I’ll be tackling many of the options included in the pattern as well as small (and not so small) hacks, in different types of fabrics to create 12 unique bottoms, from shorts to pants and some extras thrown in, just for fun.
Stephanie Troemel learned to sew from her grandmother when Stephanie was a little girl. She loves a good challenge, like pattern hacking, equally as much as she likes day-to-day sewing. When Stephanie isn't sewing, you can probably find her cooking, reading, or curled up with her kitten.
